Who we are
Who We Are
CGHE was established in 2006 in order to address global health disparities through extensive capacity building including technical assistance, health systems strengthening and innovative application of information technology in public health (e and m Health) worldwide.
The Mission of the Center for Global Health Equity is to build sustainable capacity in the health sector to expand quality and coverage of the health system in low and middle-income countries, and to respond to health emergencies. We achieve health improvement by working closely with governments, universities and other partners to train local staff – from youth, health extension workers to physicians – and to help develop, equip and implement, monitor, and evaluate interventions, especially complete solutions for national health surveillance and national health information systems.
Our vision is to be an on-the-ground organization linking government and health stakeholders with the broadest range of global and state-of-the-art resources, from tablet computers and human patient simulation training for medical students, through health facility computer networks reporting Electronic Medical Records and SMS-based cell phone training and health reporting for community health extension workers, print materials and paper-and-pencil solutions for underserved areas without electricity. In addition to building national health information systems in clinics, hospitals and other facilities, we have exceptional capacity in national-level surveillance for priority diseases in key populations. We have built our reputation on being flexible and response to local needs, local resources, and local cultures. We are an honest broker for a wide range of global universities, tech-industry and development organizations to achieve goals established by local health authorities.
